There is a certain joy in painting reality, a joy that comes from the gap in the way we conceive of reality and how it actually is.
Painting a still life with these beautiful teapots, its dark background, the white oysters was a true delight, most people might find this mondain, but then again, I am not most people.
Creating a painting after reality is an encounter of the painter with metaphysics,it is a moment of transcendence, in the painting there is a new reality, sometimes even truer than reality itself.
