I believe that for a painting to be successful the artist must be overwhelmed with a visual experience of beauty & awe.
Before making this painting I felt awe struck with beauty and passion, I wanted to commemorate it and celebrate what I saw by transcending it through a painting.
The extreme contrast between the light and dark, the direct sunlight, the intense colours, the fact that painting the figures in this position was so unconventional, and the beautiful landscape compelled me to make a painting.
